How to Play Ocean Solitaire

Ocean Solitaire combines classic card games with an aquarium full of collectible fish. Play Klondike, unlock Yukon and Sawayama, earn golden seashells, discover pearls, complete daily tasks, and compete for high scores.

Choose Normal, Hard, or Expert - the harder the difficulty, the tougher the deal and the greater the rewards. Drag cards to move them, or double-click/right-click an available card to send it automatically to a foundation.

Klondike

Move all 52 cards to the four foundations to win.

  • Build foundations by suit, from Ace to King.
  • Build tableau columns downward in alternating colors.
  • Only Kings may fill empty columns.
  • Move correctly ordered face-up sequences together.
  • Turn over the newly exposed card when you clear a face-down card.
  • Use the stock whenever you need more cards. Once empty, the waste can be recycled.

Normal draws one card, Hard draws two, and Expert draws three.

You earn 5 points for revealing a face-down tableau card or moving a waste card to the tableau, 10 points for moving a tableau card to a foundation, and 15 points for moving a waste card directly to a foundation. Moving a card from a foundation back to the tableau costs 10 points. Recycling the waste costs 1 point for every card returned to the stock.

Yukon

Yukon has the same goal and building rules as Klondike, but there is no stock: all 52 cards begin in the tableau.

You may move any face-up card together with every card below it - even when that stack is not correctly ordered. Only the first card must fit its destination. Empty columns may only be filled with a King.

Higher difficulties begin with more face-down cards. You earn 5 points when you reveal one and 10 points when moving a tableau card to a foundation. Moving a foundation card back to the tableau costs 10 points.

Sawayama

Sawayama begins like Klondike, but every tableau card is face up.

  • Build downward in alternating colors.
  • Any card - not only a King - may fill an empty column.
  • Only correctly ordered sequences can be moved together.
  • The stock can be used once and cannot be recycled.
  • Normal draws one card, Hard two, and Expert three.
  • When the stock is empty, its space becomes a free cell that can hold one card.
  • Cards placed on foundations cannot be moved back.

Because the tableau begins face up, there are no points for revealing cards. You earn 5 points for moving a waste card to the tableau, 10 points for moving a tableau or free-cell card to a foundation, and 15 points for moving a waste card directly to a foundation. There is no recycling penalty because the stock can only be used once.

Fish

Win your first round to receive your first fish. More fish can be caught in the Pet Store for 500 golden seashells or received as gifts from friends. You can name your fish, donate them to friends, or set them free.

Every living fish adds a species-dependent number of undo uses to each round. Rarer fish generally provide more undos. The Fishopedia shows each species' lifespan and undo bonus.

Fish need food every day. Feeding costs 100 golden seashells per hungry fish. Once today's feeding is complete, you can pre-feed the next unfed day for twice the normal price. Missing meals shortens a fish's life, and three days without food will cause death by starvation. Fish also eventually die of old age, at which point they will be remembered in Memories.

Brain button

The Brain button's solver analyzes the current position:

  • Yellow question mark: no definite answer yet.
  • Green brain: the position is solvable.
  • Red face: no solution was found from the current position.
  • Green checkmark: the remaining cards can be completed automatically.

The solver tells you whether a solution exists, but it does not reveal the moves. If a winning position is lost, Undo may be able to restore it.

Undo

If you have one or more living fish, you can undo your moves.

An undo costs 10 golden seashells - VIP undos are free, but you still need available undo uses from your fish.

Pearls

Pearls are hidden beneath random tableau columns. Empty a marked column to collect its pearl.

Normal rounds contain one pearl, Hard rounds contain two, and Expert rounds contain three. Pearl progress carries between rounds. Collect four pearls to open the pearl chest and receive 100 golden seashells.

Golden seashells

Golden seashells are used to catch and feed fish and to undo moves.

Earn seashells by:

  • Winning rounds: 5 on Normal, 10 on Hard, or 50 on Expert.
  • Completing and claiming daily tasks.
  • Filling the four-pearl chest.
  • Winning hourly and daily highscore competitions.
  • Buying packs from the Seashell Shop.

Highscores

Klondike, Yukon, and Sawayama each have separate leaderboards for Normal, Hard, and Expert. The game displays the ten best players, using each player's highest score for that competition.

There are three views:

  • Friends: compare your best score with your friends.
  • 1 Hour: the top player when the countdown ends receives 100 golden seashells.
  • 24 Hours: the top player when the countdown ends receives 2,500 golden seashells.

Daily Tasks

Every day, you receive three tasks. Each rewards a number of golden seashells based on its difficulty when completed. Complete all three to earn a chance to win even more golden seashells in a Higher or Lower minigame. Guess whether the next card will be higher or lower - each correct guess doubles your prize.
