Superball is a level-based game, where you have to shoot the stones above you by using the ball. At the same time, you have to try to keep the ball in the game. Many stones in the game hide power-ups, which fall down vertically when a stone is shot. That power-up can then be caught by the ship. Power-ups are very useful and can help you to get farther in the game, but be careful! Some power-ups have a negative effect and can make the game more difficult for you.

| Steering of the space ship: |

You can steer the space ship by using the keyboard or the mouse. If you have practiced a lot, you can learn to aim correctly with the ball, because the direction of the ball depends on where it hits the space ship.
Keyboard:
You can move the space ship by using the arrow keys, left and right, and fire the laser or the ball by pressing "space".
Mouse:
You can move the space ship by moving the mouse to the right and to the left in the game area. To fire the laser or the ball, you have to left-click on your mouse.

Below is a description of all the power-ups which you can collect in the game. You will get the power-ups accidentally by removing the stones in the game. Some power-ups are more frequent than others.
 | Multi ball - Many balls at the same time. |
 | Double ball - One additional ball in the game. |
 | Super ball - This ball can remove all types of stones. |
 | Extra life - Gives you 1 extra life. You can't have more than 5. |
 | Extra large - The ship becomes bigger. |
 | Level up - You go directly to the next level. |
 | Glue - Glue on the space ship, the ball sticks to the ship. |
 | Lasers - Lasers on the space ship which you can use to shoot down stones. |
 | Small - The space ship becomes smaller. |
 | Reversed mode - Reversed steering of the space ship. |
 | Earthquake - Earthquake which removes accidental stones. |
 | Random - One of the power-ups mentioned above. |
 | Destroy - You lose one life if you hit this one. |

In order to activate the bonus spin, you have to collect all the letters in the word "SPIN". You can find the letters in the various levels, and you have to collect them with the space ship when you shoot them down.
If you can't collect a letter before it falls on the ground, you will still be able to get the letter in the next levels.
