It is the aim of the game to get the Mahjong layouth that you have chosen to come right, by combining the tiles in the best possible way. A tile can be paired with an identical tile, if it is free. A tile is only free, if the right and/or left side of the tile is free, and if there is no tile on top of it.

There are more than 100 layouts in Mahjong 2. They are distributed in three categories, Easy, Medium and Difficult. The difference consists of how many free tiles there are at the beginning of the round.

You can only move one pair of tiles at once. There is a total of 144 tiles in each layout. There are four of some tiles, and only two of others. You receive tokens each time you pair a set of tiles.
Circle tiles There are 4 of each circle tile in one layout.

Bamboo tiles There are 4 of each bamboo tile in each layout.
|
|
Character tiles There are 4 of each character tile in each layout.
|
|
Wind tiles There are 4 of each wind tile in each layout.
|
|
Dragon tiles There are 4 of each dragon tile in each layout.
|
|
Cartoon tiles There are 4 of each cartoon tile in each layout.
|

Flower tiles There are 4 of each flower tile in each layout.

Each time you start a new game, you will be given three opportunities to shuffle the tiles. When there are no more pairs left, you can choose to shuffle the tiles. If you have no more pairs or opportunities to shuffle, the game is over.

If you clear the game area, the bonus spin starts.
